President Biden has extended and expanded eligibility for Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for certain Hong Kong residents, allowing them to remain and work in the United States. Eligible Hong Kong residents will have continued employment authorization through Feb. 5, 2025. USCIS is now providing documented evidence of status to new asylees and lawful permanent residents upon receiving notification of their status. Individuals are still encouraged to request their proof of status, but field offices may now be able to provide documentation by mail instead of requiring an in-person appointment.
